Start with the clue you remember
Imagine you received website-quote-v2.pdf during a short collaboration with Arjun. You remember “quote,” but the conversation also contains photos, several messages and an older presentation.
In BrezLink, sign in and open Documents. Type quote in Search files. The search can match a filename fragment without matching its case; it also checks your custom tag text and supported conversation labels. It does not search the text inside a PDF or OCR a screenshot.
Narrow the results without over-filtering
- Choose Received if the other person sent the PDF. Keep quote in the search box: the search and Received filter apply together.
- If the list is empty, switch back to All before changing your search. You might have sent a corrected version yourself.
- If you previously tagged the file Website, choose that tag and keep quote as the search text. Selecting Website replaces Received; those two filter buttons are alternatives.
- Check the filename, direction and conversation shown in the result before opening or downloading it. Use the available conversation action when you need context.
When nothing appears—or a file will not open
Clear the filter and try a shorter filename fragment. Confirm you signed in to the same BrezLink account and that the attachment was actually shared through BrezLink. This list cannot search WhatsApp, email, Google Drive or files stored only on your laptop.
An expired connection stops new messages but can leave retained history available to authorized signed-in participants. Revocation has stricter access rules, and file deletion, removal from Documents or plan access can prevent opening a file. Finding an entry is not a promise of a working download.
A guest’s conversation is tied to the browser session; it is not the signed-in Document Manager. A different browser or device does not automatically inherit guest access.
Leave a clue for the next search
Once you find the quote, give it a consistent project or type label if that would help later. Use your own tags as a personal index; do not treat a label as a permission setting or backup.
If you need an independent copy, download it while authorized and store it according to your own retention needs. BrezLink cannot recall copies already downloaded to someone else’s device.
